Kashmir lies in the northernmost region of India with an area of 86,000 square miles. Kashmir is universally known as “heaven on earth”. Since the year 1947, India and Pakistan have been fighting over heaven on earth. Kashmir tour is known as heaven on earth because of its epitome beauty. In different parts of the world, Kashmir is named differently stating the meaning of Kashmir as beauty or beautiful. For example, Greeks call it Kaspeiria, the Chinese call it Kia-shi-mi-lo, and Tibetans call it Khachal all meaning the same. 

The right time to visit Kashmir

Kashmir is a place which can be visited any time of the year as the place shows different colors any time you visit but the best time considered to visit here is March to June because it is neither too hot nor too cold and is the ideal time for sightseeing.

During the day, the temperature ranges from 15 degrees Celsius to 30 degrees Celsius. During this time of the year, the mornings are ideal for long walks and just wandering around.

Transportation to Kashmir

By Air: You can easily reach Kashmir by air, the main airport is Srinagar airport which is connected with all prime cities.

By Rail: To reach Kashmir, you have to first reach Jammu Tawi Railway and then have to take a taxi. 

By Road: Buses from Delhi, Chandigarh, Leh, and Jammu have a fixed and comfortable route to reach Srinagar in Kashmir. 

Different locations to visit in Kashmir

Srinagar 

Srinagar is known as the largest city and the summer capital of Kashmir. The city is famous for its dried fruits and handicrafts, especially Kashmir shawls which are made up of pashmina and cashmere wool. One can enjoy the natural environment, gardens, waterfronts, and houseboats in calm lakes. It is a place that one should consider in their Kashmir tour package.

Anantnag District 

The place is very much famous because of its Amarnath Cave Temple. It is 141 km away from Srinagar at an altitude of 3,888 meters. The cave has a Shiv Linga made up of ice. Devotees of Lord Shiva from all over India must visit this temple in July and August. 

Kargil 

Kargil is located in Ladakh and is considered the 2nd largest city after Leh. It is another place that one should include in their tour packages because of its iconic history. One can visit the War Memorial, Shergold, Suru Valley trek, Wakha Rgyal, and Urgyen Dzong.

Gulmarg 

Gulmarg is a hill station popular for skiing. The meaning of Gulmarg is “meadow of flowers” because of the wide variety of flowers. To boost the adrenaline in your body, you should consider adding Gulmarg to your Kashmir tour package.

Pulwama 

Pulwama is a small village that is popular for its saffron fields. In summer the place offers trekking and mountaineering and in winter skiing and snowboarding. A perfect combination of picturesque views and adventure.

Activities to do in Kashmir

Visit Dal Lake 

The lake is situated in Srinagar, the summer capital of Kashmir. It is known as the jewel of Kashmir and is the most popular tourist attraction. The lake offers a very beautiful floating market in the morning. You can enjoy a shikara ride in which a boatman takes you across the lake while you enjoy the Pir Panjal mountain view in a traditional shikara. Do add this to your Kashmir tour package.

Visit Pangong Tso 

It is a lake with picturesque scenery. In winter the lake freezes due to a drop in temperature making it look like a mirror. It is a place that must be included in the Kashmir tour package.

Gondola Ride 

It is a basic activity in Kashmir but gives a unique experience. The 1st ferry starts from Gulmarg to Kungdoor and then from Kongdori to Apharwat Peak

Visit the monuments of Kargil 

Kargil itself is a historic place because of a war between India and Pakistan in 1999. You can see all the important antiques in the Kargil museum. One should consider this place in their Kashmir tour package.
